VenueThe Horseshoe Tavern
Curated by Steven Tanaka, Next Music from Tokyo (NMFT) has been a vital bridge for Japanese underground music fans in Canada since 2010. Volume 18 brings another meticulously curated lineup of Japan's most creative and technically brilliant indie acts to the legendary stage of the Horseshoe Tavern on Queen Street West.
The Lineup
Topping the bill is the return of ハク。(Haku.), an all-female indie pop powerhouse boasting over 700,000 global fans whose intricate songwriting and explosive live energy drove massive ticket demand. They are joined by SYAYOS, an astonishingly mature young experimental pop outfit from Nagano blending folk, soul, and punk; 揺れるは幽霊 (Yureru wa Yūrei) from Okayama, delivering melancholic, towering shoegaze and post-rock textures; and Fukuoka's pudelhunds, a trio that masters clean emo and math rock before blindsiding audiences with ferocious, chaotic breakdowns.
Making a Night of It
Set in the heart of West Queen West, a night at the Horseshoe is a rite of passage for Toronto music lovers. Grab a classic draft near the front bar before heading into the back room for an unforgettable night of discovery. Tickets are $42, and given the dedicated cult following of this tour, securing yours early is strongly advised.
