Art lovers and collectors should mark their calendars for the opening reception of **The Conservatory**, Japanese artist Naomi Okubo’s first-ever Canadian exhibition, hosted at Gallery 1888 in the vibrant Junction Triangle/Sterling Road arts district.
Exploring the Collector Series For this exhibition, Okubo showcases her ongoing *Collector* series. The collection delves deep into the psychology of human desire—specifically our need to know, gather, and understand the world around us. At the same time, Okubo’s striking canvases interrogate the darker, more controlling side of collecting: the urge to possess, catalog, and enclose objects. The resulting works balance fascinating aesthetic beauty with sharp conceptual tension.
