Music Toronto is kicking off their 'Celebration of Small Ensembles' (COSE) series with a double bill that promises to be as much a social gathering as a musical discovery. On May 2, head to the Aperture Room for performances by Duo Chromatika and Trio Timia.
The Artists
Duo Chromatika, featuring violinists Julia Mirzoev and Russell Iceberg, are known for blurring the lines between classical tradition, jazz, and free improvisation. They will be joined by Trio Timia, a Montreal-based group united by their shared passion for chamber music. It is a rare chance to see two distinct, highly talented ensembles in one evening.
The Venue
The Aperture Room is a hidden gem in the city. Located on the top floor of a beautifully restored building just north of Yonge and Dundas Square, it is a light-filled, intimate space that is perfect for chamber music. It is a refreshing alternative to the city's larger concert halls.
Practical Info
The concert takes place on May 2 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Tickets are $40, or you can grab a 3-ticket pass for the entire series for $100. It is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, and the central location makes it easy to grab dinner or drinks in the downtown core afterwards.
