Whether you're looking to clear out your shelves or find your next favourite read, the Mega Book Swap at Glad Day Lit on April 25th is the place to be. This community-driven event is all about making books accessible to everyone.
How It Works
The swap uses a ticket system. You can bring in your own books to trade for tickets, or simply buy tickets if you don't have books to swap. Every book 'costs' one ticket. It’s a simple, effective way to keep books circulating in the community. There are two ways to swap: the 'Ticket Mega Swap' in the main atrium, where you can browse hundreds of books, or the 'Chaos Lounge Swap,' where you can trade directly with other attendees.
Why Attend?
While Glad Day Lit is known for its incredible 2SLGBTQ+ collection, this book swap is open to everyone and covers almost every genre. It’s a great way to meet fellow book lovers and discover titles you might not have picked up otherwise. Plus, if you RSVP in advance on Eventbrite, you’re entered into a draw to win 10 tickets!
Practical Info
The event runs from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 32 Lisgar St. The space is wheelchair accessible, and they’ve got clear guidelines on what books are accepted (basically anything in decent condition, with a few exceptions like outdated textbooks). Come early to avoid the line, and get ready to refresh your library!
