If you’ve ever walked past Love Park and admired its heart-shaped reflecting pond, you’re in for a treat this June. Inspired by the classic sailboat tradition in Paris’s Luxembourg Gardens, Love Park Pond Yacht Sailing brings a whimsical, nostalgic experience to Toronto’s waterfront.
A Unique Waterfront Experience
For a limited time, the park becomes a hub for outdoor play. Visitors of all ages are invited to set beautifully crafted wooden yachts sailing across the pond. These aren't motorized toys; they are real wind-powered vessels that you navigate from the shore using a simple wooden stick. It’s a slow, meditative, and incredibly charming way to spend an afternoon in the city.
Celebrating the World Cup
In the spirit of the World Cup, each yacht carries the flag of a participating nation. It’s a playful way to celebrate international connection and friendly competition. Whether you’re cheering for your home country or just enjoying the spectacle of miniature boats gliding across the water, it’s a perfect activity for families, couples, or anyone looking to unplug from their screens.
Practical Info
Hosted by the charity Art and Water and supported by the Toronto Waterfront BIA, this event runs on select dates throughout June and July (June 12, 17, 20, 23, 26 and July 2). Head down to Love Park at 96 Queens Quay W between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM to join in. It’s a rare chance to experience a moment of wonder in the middle of our bustling downtown core.
