If you're looking for a theatre experience that is as thoughtful as it is delightful, 'Little Pea' at the Spadina Theatre is a must-see. Part of the WeeFestival, this poetic and tragicomic production is designed for children aged 4-7, blending object theatre, clowning, and visual arts to tell a story that resonates with both kids and adults.

A Story of Resilience 'Little Pea' follows the journey of a small green pea—a survivor of a refugee camp—who finds himself alone in a vegetable garden. An imperious clown, acting as the guardian of the garden, discovers the lonely pea and decides to help him on a global quest to find his family. It’s a gentle, evocative way to introduce young audiences to complex themes like uprooting and isolation.

An Interactive Experience The production is a collaboration between A Kleine Compagnie and Presentation House Theatre, directed by Agnès Limbos. One of the most unique aspects of the show is how the stage world is built as the story unfolds, using everyday objects and fabricated characters. At the end of the performance, the audience is invited to visit an 'exhibition' of the works created during the show, making it a truly immersive experience.

Located at 24 Spadina Rd, the Spadina Theatre is a great venue for this intimate performance. It’s a wonderful opportunity to support local arts and introduce your little ones to the magic of live theatre.
