Let's Makedo Box Buddies!

Transform ordinary cardboard boxes into extraordinary creatures at the Parliament Street Library's Makedo Box Buddies workshop. Designed for kids ages 6 to 12, this sustainability-conscious program encourages young makers to collaborate, design, and construct imaginative sculptures using safe Makedo tools and recycled materials. ## Building and Deconstructing Beyond just crafting, participants will explore the mechanics of chain reactions, test out structural designs, and learn about sustainable reuse in the dedicated deconstruction zone at the end of the session. It's a messy, highly engaging way to foster engineering mindsets and teamwork in a vibrant downtown library space. ## Practical Details The workshop takes place on August 7, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Main Floor Program Room at the Parliament Street branch, located at 269 Gerrard Street East in Cabbagetown. All materials are supplied free of charge, but registration is required. Make a full evening of it by grabbing dinner in Cabbagetown before or after exploring the neighbourhood.
