If you've ever looked at a sweater and wondered how it actually came to be, this workshop at The Village at Black Creek is your chance to find out. On June 13th, you can dive into the tactile, meditative world of spinning in a beginner-friendly environment.
What You’ll Learn
This workshop covers the full journey of fibre arts. You’ll get hands-on experience with washing, carding, and teasing raw Border Leicester fleece before learning the mechanics of using a drop spindle to spin it into your very own yarn. It’s a fantastic way to connect with heritage crafting techniques that have been used for centuries.
Who Should Go
This is a great activity for adults or children aged 10 and up (accompanied by an adult). It’s an intimate, skill-building session where all tools and equipment are provided, so you don't need to bring anything but your curiosity. You’ll leave with your own hand-spun, undyed wool—a perfect souvenir of your day at the village.
Practical Info
The workshop runs from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13th. Tickets are $55 per person, and because space is limited, you'll want to register early. The Village at Black Creek is located at 1000 Murray Ross Pkwy in North York. It’s a beautiful spot to spend a Saturday morning, and you might want to leave some extra time to explore the rest of the historic village grounds after your class.
