Klezmer Jam & Yiddish Dance - August 8!

Head over to the High Park Nature Centre side porch for an afternoon of traditional tunes, community connection, and movement at the Rad Yiddish and Marching Disorder outdoor Klezmer Jam and Yiddish Dance. Led by a stellar lineup of local musicians and tradition-bearers including Martin van de Ven, Cassie Norton, and Emily Glass, this monthly gathering welcomes both seasoned players and curious beginners.

Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and sheet music to play through a shared set list starting with a tune breakdown led by Martin. Meanwhile, non-musicians can join Emily Glass on the dance floor to learn traditional social folk dances like freylekhs, bulgars, and zhoks.

What to Know Before You Go The event runs on a pay-what-you-can donation model (suggested $20), with proceeds supporting the leaders and organizers. High Park is closed to motorized vehicles on weekends, so plan to walk in from the north gates or take a short stroll from High Park TTC station. It is an accessible, incredibly warm community event open to all ages and mobility levels.
