In her solo exhibition *Keeping Time*, Canadian artist Rebecca Cowan invites viewers to pause and reflect on the passage of time. By transforming antique mantel clocks—once functional objects—into intimate narrative spaces, Cowan explores themes of memory, resilience, and domestic life. These ornate wooden cases, many of which were inherited and fallen into disrepair, now serve as metaphors for disrupted rhythms and the quiet moments that sustain us.

The Art of Assemblage Created during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, these works feature layered compositions of prints, found imagery, and natural materials. The etched glass doors of the clocks both reveal and obscure the scenes within, creating a sense of suspended time. As Cowan notes, the work is an attempt to answer whether memories of happy moments can sustain us during difficult times.

Visit the Exhibition *Keeping Time* is on display at the Dignam Gallery, located within the Women’s Art Association of Canada at 23 Prince Arthur Avenue. The exhibition runs from April 1 to April 14. It’s a thoughtful, contemplative show that offers a unique perspective on how we preserve meaning beyond the ticking of a clock. Perfect for an afternoon of art appreciation in the Yorkville area.
