Gareth Burgess is a name that carries weight in the Toronto jazz scene. A steel pan master with over three decades of experience, Burgess began his musical journey at the conservatory at just five years old. Since then, he has performed with some of the city's most respected steel bands, including Panatics, Silhouettes, and Afropan.
A Global Performer
Burgess is currently a key member of two prominent Caribbean Jazz groups: Kalabash and the Caribbean Jazz Collective. His work with Kalabash has taken him to jazz festivals around the world, showcasing the versatility and depth of the steel pan. When he isn't performing, he’s sharing his knowledge as a music teacher for the TDSB and at York University.
