Canadian artist Vera Frenkel has created an extensive body of work spanning from the 1970s to today. As an early innovator in embracing new technologies, her videos, installations, and online projects explore themes such as cultural memory, migration, and the influence of language and media on identity and community.
A Deep Dive into Memory
This talk by Dot Tuer is the second of two sessions accompanying *As If By Chance…*, a two-channel video and print installation currently on view. Tuer, a long-time admirer of Frenkel’s work, curated the artist's 1997 Images Retrospective and is currently writing a book on artistic practices of memory-making in the Americas, which includes a chapter devoted to Frenkel.
