3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
106 King Street East
Long before it became a bustling commercial corridor, Yonge Street served as the pulsing heartbeat of Canada's rock, soul, and folk revolutions. This free guided walking tour through Downtown Yonge invites music lovers to retrace the steps of the icons who built Toronto's legendary soundscape.
Led by knowledgeable guides, the tour kicks off at the historic St. James Cathedral Grounds before winding north past historic venue sites, legendary former record stores, and hidden landmarks that defined generations of local counterculture. You'll hear the stories behind the stages that launched global careers and discover how the neighbourhood shaped the soundtrack of the city.
The walk wraps up at the Turko (McGill) Parkette near 419 Yonge Street. Because group sizes are kept intimate to ensure a great experience, registration is required in advance via the Downtown Yonge BIA website. Wear comfortable walking shoes and prepare to see downtown through a deeply musical lens.
