Branch Art Exhibit: Works by Farzana Islam

Throughout the month of August, the Albion Branch plays host to a compelling visual showcase by local artist and illustrator Farzana Islam. Running daily during regular branch hours, the exhibition highlights Islam's unique perspective as a Bangladeshi Canadian artist who grew up navigating the Ontario school system as an immigrant child.

Shaped heavily by Scarborough’s multicultural fabric, Islam’s work explores deeply personal yet universally resonant themes around identity, literacy, and community belonging. Her creative journey spans from early days making webcomics and completing tattoo apprenticeships to studying professional illustration at Sheridan College. Today, she works fluidly across animation, traditional illustration, and 3D art to amplify voices that often slip beneath the cultural radar.
