DROM Taberna
Prepare for a wonderfully eccentric musical expedition as Eric St-Laurent & Science-Fiction Cumbia take over the stage at DROM Taberna on Queen West.
If the premise—a team of music engineers from Alpha Centauri landing in 1822 Bogotá to jam with local dance bands while Duke Ellington plays Wordle at the bar—doesn't give you a hint of what to expect, you're in for a delightfully unconventional treat. Led by inventive guitarist Eric St-Laurent, the project fuses avant-garde jazz sensibilities with infectious tropical cumbia rhythms, creating a genre-bending sonic landscape that is as playful as it is musically rigorous.
### What to Expect Expect virtuosic musicianship wrapped in a tongue-in-cheek sci-fi conceptual package. It's danceable, it's cosmic, and it showcases some of Toronto's most creative improvisational players having an absolute blast on stage. DROM Taberna's warm, bohemian atmosphere offers the perfect living-room-away-from-home vibe for such genre-defying performances.
### Making a Night of It Situated at 458 Queen Street West, DROM is surrounded by some of the city's coolest independent shops, bars, and galleries. Come early to sample their fantastic pierogies, house-fermented drinks, or local cider, and stay late for the eccentric rhythms. Easily accessible via the 501 Queen streetcar.
