Dog Days: Canadian Opera Premiere

7:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Nancy and Ed Jackman Performance Centre
Tapestry Opera stages the Canadian premiere of Dog Days, the breakthrough contemporary opera by composer David T. Little and Canadian librettist Royce Vavrek, November 19–22, 2026 at the Nancy and Ed Jackman Performance Centre (877 Yonge St). The score mixes classical vocals with dark ambient noise and amplified electric guitars.
Set in a fictional wartime blackout, the story follows a rural working-class family scraping through military collapse and food shortages—a psychological drama about resilience and moral fracture when social structures fail. The New York Times–acclaimed work put Little and Vavrek on the map; Toronto finally gets a proper local look.
Tickets run roughly $70–$105 via tapestryopera.com. Yonge & Davenport / Summerhill area is subway-accessible; this is intense contemporary opera, not a light night out—check runtime and content advisories before bringing teens. Book early; Tapestry runs are short.
