Dirty Dancing: The Musical

Dirty Dancing: The Musical opens at the Ed Mirvish Theatre (244 Victoria St.) on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, and runs through Sunday, January 3, 2027, as part of the Mirvish season.
The show is a new stage production based on the Lionsgate film, and it sticks close to what people loved about the original: Baby, Johnny, a summer at Kellerman's resort in the Catskills, secret rehearsals and a romance her family does not approve of. The selling point is the dancing. Expect full production numbers, plenty of mambo and the lift everyone is waiting for, all set to live music drawn from the film's soundtrack.
It is pitched squarely as a feel-good night out, and that is how to approach it. If you grew up rewinding the VHS, this is a nostalgia trip with a live band. If you are bringing someone who has never seen the movie, the story is simple enough to follow and the music does a lot of the work. The six-week run straddles the holidays, which makes it an easy pick for a December group outing, an office night out or a parent-and-adult-kid date.
Practical notes: the Ed Mirvish Theatre sits just north of Yonge-Dundas Square, a two-minute walk from Dundas station on Line 1. The Dundas streetcar stops at the door. Holiday-season evenings downtown get busy, so give yourself extra time to get through the lobby. Tickets are sold through Mirvish; pricing varies by date and seat, and weekend and holiday-week performances usually go first, so book early if you have a specific night in mind. Check the Mirvish show page for the performance calendar, running time and any age guidance before you go.
