Cyanotype Workshop

Step away from digital screens and discover the rich history of analog photography with a hands-on Cyanotype Workshop at the Toronto Reference Library. Long before digital filters and Adobe Photoshop, photographers relied on alternative chemical processes to capture images. In this session, you will learn how to make a cyanotype—a unique photographic printing technique sensitive to ultraviolet and blue light.

The workshop provides all the necessary materials to layer objects and transparencies, resulting in stunning Prussian blue prints. Participants are also encouraged to bring along a small flat object or a 2D silhouette from home to use for a custom contact print. Meet up at the landmark reference library at 789 Yonge Street for an inspiring afternoon of art-making and history.
