Boogie On!

Sunday, September 13, 2026 – Sunday, December 6, 2026
2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Trinity-St. Paul's United Church and Centre for Faith
If conventional dance classes feel too rigid and nightclub environments too overwhelming, Boogie On! offers a refreshing alternative in the heart of the Annex. Hosted inside the community hall at Trinity-St. Paul's United Church, this recurring Sunday evening gathering strips away choreography, expectations, and strict steps in favour of pure, unstructured freestyle movement.
The Dance Philosophy
Boogie On! operates on a simple premise: move however your body feels compelled to move. The environment is friendly, sober, and completely non-judgmental, welcoming participants of all ages, backgrounds, and mobility levels. There are no routines to memorize, no partners required, and no performance pressure. The carefully curated soundtrack spans decades and continents, weaving seamlessly through vintage swing, classic R&B, infectious world beat grooves, smooth jazz, pop favourites, and soulful blues.
The Space and Culture
Trinity-St. Paul's Centre for Faith, Justice & the Arts has long served as a progressive cultural hub in the Annex, known for its warm acoustics and community-first programming. The hall provides ample hardwood flooring to move freely, whether you prefer high-energy cardio expression or gentle, grounded stretching. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, bring a refillable water bottle, and dance either in supportive indoor shoes, socks, or barefoot.
Practical Details and Access
The sessions run weekly on Sunday evenings through the autumn season, starting at 6:30 PM. Admission is $10 at the door, with a pay-what-you-can (PWYC) policy in place to ensure financial accessibility for all participants. Trinity-St. Paul's is located at 427 Bloor Street West, just a one-minute walk from Spadina subway station (Bloor-Danforth and Yonge-University-Spadina lines). After shaking off the week, the surrounding Annex strip offers countless casual eateries, tea houses, and diners for an easy post-dance bite.
