Looking to master the art of the globally beloved bubble tea? Head over to the Leaside Library for a free, hands-on workshop designed specifically for teens, led by Chef Yumiko.

What's on the Menu Participants will dive into the science and sweetness of crafting the classic Brown Sugar Milk with Boba. You'll learn how to properly prepare foundational ingredients including dark molasses, milk, and chewy tapioca pearls to achieve that perfect cafe-style texture and visual appeal. Chef Yumiko will also guide attendees through a refreshing alternative, the 'Purple Lemonade,' featuring butterfly blue pea flowers, honey, and fresh lemon zest.

Beyond the kitchen skills, attendees will get a quick history lesson on the cultural phenomenon of boba and its massive rise in popularity across the globe.

Practical Info Taking place at the Leaside branch (165 McRae Drive), this free afternoon session runs from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM. It's a fantastic, low-stakes way for teens to pick up a new recipe and hang out in the neighbourhood. Note that allergen information covers dairy and various sugars, so check ingredients beforehand if you have sensitivities. Grab some friends and head out for a sweet start to your Friday evening!
