Ever wanted to perfect the quintessential Canadian dessert? Now is your chance. Join Chef Stephanie for a hands-on, 2.5-hour workshop where you'll learn to make butter tarts and Beaver Tails from scratch.
What You'll Learn
This class covers the fundamentals of pastry-making. You'll start by crafting a buttery, flaky tart dough, then move on to creating that signature rich, gooey filling. While your tarts are in the oven, you'll shift gears to learn the secrets of shaping and frying Beaver Tails—that famous Canadian fried dough pastry. You'll get to decorate your own with various toppings and enjoy them warm right in class.
Take Home the Goods
The best part? You won't leave empty-handed. You'll take home 6 or 12 of your own freshly baked butter tarts to share (or keep for yourself). No experience is necessary, making this a great activity for friends, family, or a fun solo outing.
Practical Info
The workshop takes place at 12 Sousa Mendes St. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon in the Junction Triangle. Check the schedule for available times and be sure to book in advance, as these classes fill up quickly.
