An Evening of Art and Letters
Join acclaimed writer and New Yorker staff writer Adam Gopnik for a special evening exploring the vision of legendary American photographer Richard Avedon. Speaking both as a critic and confidante, Gopnik will dive into Avedon's complex body of work, with a particular focus on his unsparing, intimate portraits of aging.
Running in conjunction with The Image Centre's major exhibition, *Richard Avedon Immortal: Portraits of Aging, 1951–2004*, this talk offers a rare perspective on how Avedon challenged the conventions of idealized celebrity photography. Gopnik will touch on portraits ranging from cultural icons to personal studies, illuminating the deep humanity behind Avedon's lens.
