This summer, Parkway Forest Park in North York transforms into a hub of cultural storytelling with the Sundown Stories: Dance in the Park series. Presented by Rashmi Mishra and the Rashmi Academy of Performing Arts, this three-part event offers a beautiful, accessible way to engage with North Indian classical dance.

What to Expect The series kicks off with a focus on Kathak, a mesmerizing dance form renowned for its intricate footwork, rapid-fire spins, and expressive narrative style. The evening is designed to be inclusive, starting with a live performance that showcases the grace and rhythmic complexity of the form. Following the performance, attendees are invited to join an interactive workshop. Whether you are a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, the session is designed to be welcoming and easy to follow, making it a perfect outing for families or anyone looking to try something new.

Practical Info This is a relaxed, outdoor experience, so come prepared to enjoy the park setting. While some seating will be provided, it is highly recommended that you bring your own lawn chairs or picnic mats to ensure you have a comfortable spot to watch the performance. The event is free and open to all ages, making it an excellent way to spend a summer evening in North York.

Parkway Forest Park is located at 80 Parkway Forest Dr. It’s a great spot to enjoy a pre-show picnic before the storytelling begins at sundown.
