If you're looking to get behind the scenes of Toronto's vibrant art scene, mark your calendar for April 11, 2026. Koffler Arts is hosting a double-feature artist tour that offers a rare, intimate look at their newest exhibitions.

The Artists and Their Work The afternoon begins at 2:00 PM at Koffler301, where multimedia artist Kalmplex will lead a walkthrough of *Blessed and Highly Favoured*. Kalmplex, a Toronto-based artist with Jamaican and Ghanaian roots, will share his process behind creating portraits of African royalty, focusing on his unique approach to capturing the soul through the eyes. Having documented Toronto's art and culture for over two decades, Kalmplex brings a wealth of local perspective to his work.

Following this, the tour moves to the Koffler Gallery for a guided walkthrough with Gillian Iles, titled *Navigating a Glorious Catastrophe*. Iles will discuss her installation of paintings, sculptures, and video, exploring the dualities between inside and outside, and the intersection of the catastrophic and the glorious. With a career spanning nearly three decades and a history of founding artist collectives like Propeller and Loop, Iles offers a profound look at power dynamics and social constructs.

How to Attend The tours start at 2:00 PM on the 3rd floor of 180 Shaw St. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with the creators and understand the narratives that shape their work. Whether you are a long-time art collector or just curious about local contemporary practice, these tours provide the perfect context to appreciate the depth of the exhibitions. After the tour, take a stroll through the nearby Trinity Bellwoods neighbourhood to discuss the art over a coffee or a bite to eat.
