Bring a bit of living nature indoors with a unique youth workshop at the Armour Heights Library. Designed for school-aged children, this hands-on session teaches participants how to build their own mini aquatic terrarium.
The Walstad Method
Instead of high-maintenance tech setups, young scientists will learn the Walstad method—a natural planted aquarium approach that mimics real ecosystems so the tank largely takes care of itself. Kids will get their hands dirty (or wet) arranging aquatic plants and substrate to create a balanced, self-sustaining micro-world in a jar.
Practical Information
Registration is required for this event due to limited space and supplies, and participants are asked to bring their own clean glass jar.
