Eight years after it first took the Toronto Fringe Festival by storm, 'Anywhere' by Michael Ross Albert is returning to the stage. This tense, one-act thriller explores a late-night battle for control between an AirBnB host and her guest, forcing them to confront difficult truths about class disparities and the search for meaning in an indifferent world.
The Twist
This new production, a collaboration between One Four One Collective and Leroy Street Theatre, features an intriguing twist: the two actors, Kaitlin Race and Anne Van Leeuwen, will alternate roles from performance to performance. Directed by Cass Van Wyck, who originated the role of Joy in the world premiere, this approach is designed to emphasize the play’s themes of duality, uncertainty, and mistrust.
Why Go?
Michael Ross Albert is widely considered one of Toronto’s most exciting playwrights, and this play is a fantastic example of his ability to build tension and explore complex social dynamics. The Assembly Theatre is the perfect venue for this kind of intimate, high-stakes drama. Whether you’re a fan of indie theatre or just looking for a gripping night out, this is a must-see production.
