Avoou

Part of the highly anticipated 2026 WeeFestival, *Avoou* is an immersive theatre experience designed specifically for children aged six months and up. This collaborative production brings together the diverse talents of Kuné—Canada’s Global Orchestra—to tell a story of connection, friendship, and finding home.
A Global Collaboration
The performance features musicians Aline Morales (Brazil), Padideh Ahrarnejad (Iran), and Matias Recharte (Peru). Together, they weave a narrative about three strangers who meet at a crossroads, sharing their songs around a fire to build a new sense of community. The show is performed in Farsi, Portuguese, and Spanish, creating a rich linguistic and musical tapestry that is accessible and engaging for even the youngest audience members.
What to Expect
Expect an intimate, sensory-rich experience. The musicians utilize a variety of traditional instruments, including the berimbau, the tar, and the cajon, to create a soundscape that transports the audience to faraway places. The show is designed to be gentle and captivating, perfect for introducing toddlers and young children to the magic of live performance.
Venue & Neighbourhood
The event takes place at Artscape Youngplace on Shaw Street, a vibrant community hub in the heart of West Queen West. The neighbourhood is fantastic for families, with plenty of nearby parks and cafes to visit before or after the show. Given the intimate nature of the performance, it is highly recommended to book your tickets in advance. This is a wonderful opportunity to expose your little ones to world music and storytelling in a setting that celebrates diversity and the universal language of rhythm.
